Agenda Highlights
The right operating model…
The idea for this session came from a conversation I had with Kate Slater at Unilever last year. Kate needed input on how comparable global organisations with similar levels of ambition and activity around digital were evolving or planning the next iterations of their digital setup; communications, collaboration, roles and responsibilities etc. We agreed to survey a number of members from global organisations deemed to be relevant their activities, plans etc. Pretty much everyone I approached responded along the lines of: "Terribly interesting questions; I just don't know what to tell you! We are trying to figure this our ourselves, so let me know when you receive some useful input"...
Most seemed to be either going through or about to embark on some major organisational changes, but were unsure about where this would eventually land them, what the setup would eventually look like and whether it was all part of a greater "master plan" for the area.
Since then, I have been talking, listening, reading and observing in order to establish whether there are any emerging trends and factors in the way organisations are deciding and executing on these crucial matters; who are they looking at / listening to? How are they planning? Is there any significant progress to be detected and any conclusions or learnings that can be deduced from what has been tried thus far? There are indeed some emerging trends and the rationale behind many of the decisions do seem to have similar origins. We will look at those, discuss whether they resonate with your realities and experiences and what the short to medium term consequences and opportunities may be.
Graham Bird from Cardiff University will also share his observations and current thinking about the topic. He has taken out precious time to read up and research various aspects and will share those, too.
Challenges & Opportunities
Bring one topic or question you would like to discuss in the group:
-Something you would like expert feedback (opinions...) on
-Something you want to pitch - and would like input on
-Something that is currently proving challenging
Be ready to talk through a little context and the sort of feedback you are looking for. Try to be as specific as possible. Ideally, share a brief description of it on Workplace
Other suggested topics
-Building a solid business case for analytics
-How do we solidify the team’s position, expertise and authority in a reality with no standards
