Topic: The best way forward from a currently fragmented and disconnected intranet experience

Nick Oldford at ThermoFisher Scientific in Boston:

Since we redid our intranet back in 2016/2017, we have seen that various groups and functions (HR, our Learning site, our PPI platform, and others) have jumped out of SharePoint and launched their own systems using other vendors. (3 or 4 "big ones" and a lot of other lower hanging systems used around the business, which consequently live in silos - unless you know the URL.

This fragmentation, partly as a consequence of the many disconnected systems, leads to our colleagues getting confused and frustrated about where to go to find what they need. We are working to move our current intranet to Modern Sharepoint, which is a huge undertaking and it forced us to pause and take a step back to figure out if that is where we want to invest and is there a better way.

We are working to identify our stakeholder and figure out what it is they need in an intranet and where the painpoints are. We are meeting with various vendors (Microsoft, service now, others?) to see what they have to offer and get their vision for their products.

The short term goal is to change our point of entry or front door for colleagues and create some sort of connection with either search, targeted webparts or other between the various systems.

Has anyone else gone through this recently; vendor selection, figuring out what questions to ask their employees and stakeholders and the process they went through?

Topic: Developing a mobile strategy for employee communications

Steve Schmidt in Philadelphia and Chris Stewart in Vancouver; both working at QVC (Quarate Retail):

We are developing a new mobile strategy for employees across their enterprise and are keen to talk to anyone who has experience with this. If you have and would be willing to share your insights, get in touch.

Topic: Experience with interpreting employee channel analytics

Ernst Décsey - Digital Workplace Specialist at Unicef in Geneva

At Unicef, we have been trying to come up with a good framework for a long time, but we don't think we are there.

If you have increasing numbers (unique page views, likes, stories,...) is this a good thing? Is there another way at measuring internal communications success.

Any insights?

Thank you

We appreciate having you in our network - more now than ever before - and look forward to many more fruitful discussions. Stay connected!
